What is Animal Chiropractic

Animal Chiropractic is a field of animal healthcare that focuses on the health of the neuro-musculoskeletal & biomechanical system. The spine is a complex framework of bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, discs and nerves. If the biomechanics of the spine/vertebrae become dysfunctional, this can interfere with nerve function that innervate all muscles and organs throughout the body. If one or more limbs are injured or affected by an arthritic/degenerative condition, this will affect gait and movement for which the rest of the body compensates for. Loss of normal mobility, pain, inflammation, muscle spasm, degenerative changes and even organ dysfunction can occur.  Animal Chiropractic care offers a hands-on, non-surgical, drug-free treatment option for spinal & extremity related dysfunction and disorders.

Animal chiropractic does not replace veterinary medicine nor assume the responsibility of primary health care of animals. Chiropractic care for animals is meant to enhance comprehensive healthcare through an integrative approach. Doctors certified in animal chiropractic or veterinary spinal manipulation are either licensed doctors of chiropractic or veterinary medicine who have received additional, specialized training from an accredited animal chiropractic program and go on to become board certified in animal chiropractic.
